The newest installment in everyone’s favorite Ace Attorney series is set to release on June 9th in Japan for the 3DS–however, no further update as of yet whether or not other regions will receive the game.
Along with hype for the continuation for the series, many fans were excited to hear Apollo Justice’s return to the screen, along with popular psychic sidekick, Maya.
In Ace Attorney 6, Phoenix must once again travel to the isolated Kingdom of Kurain, reuniting himself and fans with Maya Fey–leaving Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes in charge of his main office.
Today, after a short Twitter campaign meant to engage their fans, Capcom treated fans with a superb animated intro to the upcoming game! Sadly, the originally release trailer was in Japan and un-subbed. However, since this morning, a few generous fans (such as Bolt2nd) have gone to the trouble to create a version of the introduction with English subtitles. The entire video lasts a satisfying 8 minutes, and is meaty with fluid animation, great voice acting, and engaging music!
The above trailer reveals a few other returning characters, such as Prosecutor Simon Blackquill from Dual Destinies–although it remains unconfirmed from Capcom whether Blackquill will make an appearance outside of this animated intro, and actually be an in-game character.
The game also follows the premise that the province in Kurain has somehow outlawed defense attorneys–although fans of the series are used to suspending their disbelief when it comes to the magical-realism surrounding this fictional legal system.
The prologue also introduces a new prosecutor, Nayuta, who seems to carry the ambiguous role of both friend and foe.
Ace Attorney 6 is set to come out this year on June 9th on Nintendo 3DS in Japan. We can expect to hear more from Capcom on a Western release some time in the near future.
