A couple of months ago Ubisoft, unfortunately, released statement delaying the multiplayer mode for Watch Dogs: Legion to an unspecified date in 2021 in order to focus on fixing issues in the single-player mode. However, today Ubisoft has officially announced that the multiplayer mode will be arriving soon on March 9.
The multiplayer mode will give players some new content to work through with up to three of their friends. There is a free-roam co-op mode for players looking to take on side quests, events, and challenges as well as new co-op missions to fight across the landmarks in London. These activities will be familiar to veteran players as they are also available in single-player. Something new coming in this first update will include the first of the Tactical Ops, a type of mission that will require “efficiency and communication,” very similar to raids or heists in other multiplayer games. For players looking for more of the story, they are probably going to be disappointed as there is little in the way of a narrative expansion. While there is a five co-op mission series, most of those missions deal more with large fighting scenes rather than any tactical planning. A new PvP mode is also incoming, called Spiderbot Arena, where players will control spider bots and fight to the death. Overall, the new multiplayer addition is more about having fun with friends than story advancement. However, there will be more updates to come out in the future to add some more missions, PvP modes, and more.
Watch Dogs: Legion is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC for $59.99, and the multiplayer mode will be arriving March 9.
