Hogwarts Legacy was one of the biggest surprises last year, earning the top spot as the best-selling game of the year, the first time in a while that a Call of Duty wasn’t the best-selling game of the year. With that level of success, many were wondering whether or not a sequel of the game would be coming, which it is. In a new interview, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment David Haddad has confirmed that the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is in development and is a “very big priority” and is part of Warner Bros. initiative of a major Harry Potter push.

“We have known for some time that fans are looking for more things in this world, and so we’re spending a lot of time thinking about that,” Haddad said. “Our insights tell us that there are not huge distinctions between a younger version of a fan and an older version of a fan. They’re just deep ‘Harry Potter’ fans and we try to build authentic experiences to delight them.” Warner Bros. has revealed that the game has now sold over 30 million copies.

Haddad noted that the success of Hogwarts Legacy has stoked confidence in the company that now is a good time to make a major Potter push. “The rest of the company was very curious about what we helped to unlock with ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ last year.”
The big Potter push includes a variety of different products ranging from TV series like Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking, the HBO show, to video games like Hogwarts Legacy and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, to theme parks to high-end merchandise and live experiences.
One way they are making a push is that the games team has been coordinating some of the big-picture storytelling elements in the “Hogwarts Legacy” sequel with the storylines that will play out in the “Harry Potter” HBO series which is set to release in 2026.
