It has been a while since the developers of Warframe announced the upcoming story arc The New War in July. In order to fully prepare both old and new players for this major update, the developers carried out a series of events to help players grind faster and understand the story that has hitherto been released. The Road to The New War event rewarded players who participated in-game items and walked everyone through the main story again on Twitch. The release date of The New War has finally been decided. It is set to be released on December 15th. In the announcement, the developers also revealed Warframe’s largest cinematic trailer ever.
In The New War, players will have to face the arguably most beloved character of Warframe, the Lotus. The Lotus acts as the mother to the Tenno during early chapters of the game. However, she left the Tenno in the Apostasy Prologue arc and will be waging war against all Tennos in The New War. The developers describe The New War as “Warframe’s largest cinematic expansion yet”, and emphasize that players will have to settle their scores with the Lotus or else “all you have fought to protect will fall to ruin”. It is not hard to tell how much effort the developers have spent on this major expansion, and I think it would be safe for us to expect something big.
Players will be able to see the war unfold from different characters’ perspectives. You can play as Tenno and other brand-new characters: Kahl-175, the Grineer trooper; Veso, a Corpus tech; and Teshin, a skilled Dax soldier. You will be able to play as these characters using their playstyles and abilities. Caliban, the new Warframe that is a hybrid of Sentient and Warframe, will also be available.
