Wales Interactive and Peacebreak Studio Announce Beaten Path for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC in 2027

Publisher Wales Interactive and developer Peacebreak Studio have announced that Beaten Path, turn-based tactical RPG, will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2027. The game was funded on Kickstarter in 2025.
Set in a world abandoned to fallen gods and ancient machines, the game follows an apprentice named Panna. She travels with a group of companions to untangle missing memories, mythic powers, and a fate caught in a loop. Panna is forced to retrace steps she has no memory of taking, slowly piecing together the truth about a forgotten war and her own hidden role in it. The answers she needs are scattered all over the place, buried deep inside broken technology, locked away by people she used to know, and hidden within memories that just keep repeating.

Combat plays out on a grid, pulling direct inspiration from classics like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. The core strategy revolves around positioning units, reading the terrain, and making sure the whole team works together. Players can flank enemies, turn environmental hazards to their advantage, and chain attacks between characters. Building party gets incredibly deep. Every character can equip a primary and secondary job at the same time, and each job has its own dedicated skill tree. There are over a hundred weapons and a couple hundred skills to mix and match, plus plenty of unlockable outfits. The finished game will feature 25 recruitable characters. Each one is fully voiced and comes with a unique personality and storyline, complete with a hand-drawn portrait and a custom 3D model. Between battles, the group travels across a painted overworld. The weather shifts dynamically and new events pop up as the party explores a map that ranges from sunken temples to storm-swept coastlines.

Beaten Path is available to wishlist now on Steam.

Runa Nguyen: As a child, I translated strategy guides from English into Vietnamese for my dad so he could play through the Final Fantasy games, and in the process, the franchise became one of my own most beloved. From there, my life was filled with MMORPGs like Ragnarok Online, which I still look back on with fondness. I’m a fiction writer with a background in Creative Writing who primarily writes dark romance, but video games will always remain a big part of my life.
