Adam Bernath, the founder of iGaming Studio made the announcement on August 6 that Vroom! a toy car battle royale game, will be set to launch next year. Players will be able to drive around in little toy cars while racing other players. The game itself will be set in messy childhood-styled bedrooms as you wage war against other players to try to take the lead to win first place. The gameplay trailer, which was released on the same day as the announcement of the development, shows that getting around the unconventional “track” will not be an easy task. Players will have to dodge and swerve various obstacles–from preschoolers’ wooden blocks, basketballs, soccer balls, bear slippers, and even the occasional toy train, anything goes in this not-so-ordinary toy car race arena.
The reveal announcement also suggests that there will be multiple different environments racers will have to compete in with each environment containing interactive items that racers can use to their advantage. For example, players can utilize the toys in the children’s room to distract other racers–whether that’s knocking out a player with a basketball or finding exploding items that you can use to punish your other opponents, the possibilities are endless.
Players will also have an array of toy cars to choose from in Vroom! The trailer shows these options as pick-up trucks, 60’s style formula cars, cherry pickers, and cement mixers–each of them also containing the opportunity to be customized. The customization options in Vroom! allow you to change your cars’ finishes, from wood to high-gloss to plastic, if looking like an old-school Tonka Truck is your thing.
Vroom! will release in 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X\S consoles. A pre-alpha build is currently being used to test out the game before it officially hits the market. As for now, Bernath plans on keeping his game exclusive to next-generation consoles.
