Vikings, Knights, Samurai Prevalent in For Honor Story Trailer

Ubisoft is know for cramming a lot of story into everything they do and For Honor is no exception. For Honor pits Vikings versus Knights versus Samurai in a game designed mostly for multiplayer melee action. However, as most games are, there is a single player and co-operative mode that digs into the reason that Vikings, Knights and Samurai are killing each other. You can watch the trailer below to learn the back story of the dueling classes.

The trailer starts out with explaining that the Knights of the Iron Legion were once “unconquerable” but that isn’t the case anymore. They now bend at the knees of the Samurai of the Dawn Empire, whom themselves are being restricted thanks to its emperor’s calls for peace among these great warriors. The Vikings whom are described as being “war borns” have “set aside their axes for their feeble families.” A female, named Apollyon then explains that war is possible by recruiting their enemies, followed by countless scenes of war between the three classes.

Alec Meer of Rockpapershotgun was able to play the multiplayer early and said the following about the game’s sword play:

As for the fighting, inevitably we’re not in reticulesas any more. This is a game about timing and blocking, not aiming. The idea For Honor’s come up with is that you can hold your weapon in one of three directions – left, right, above – in order both to block which angle you think an attack is coming from, and to ensure your own hit connects rather than bounces right off the enemy’s blade with yer classic clang or donk sound effect.

There is a closed beta that people can sign up for in January, while the full game will be released in February. For Honor will be released for PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on February 14.

No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
