To the surprise of absolutely no one Vi is now confirmed to be on the roster of Riot Game’s foray into the fighting game genre: 2XKO.

Vi is one of the main characters of League of Legends’ popular Arcane animated series, with her default costume even reflecting Arcane rather than her default costume in League of Legends, so it really was a no-brainer that she’d join her sister Jinx in 2XKO’s very limited base roster, if anything the surprise is that more Arcane characters like Jayce, Viktor, and Caitlyn aren’t joining them.

From the gameplay Vi seems to be a mixup focused rushdown character, with an incredibly fast dash speed and what appears to be a command backdash (or “sway”) which, in a tag fighter where assists can both lock the opponent down and mix them up, is a very dangerous and tricky thing to give a character. Vi also has access to a special where she throws out a flurry of punches, the animation is very long and in a game like this is likely going to be used to allow for an assist to be called in for a nasty follow-up mix afterwards. Not to mention, her dashes and specials go incredibly far, with a trailer combo (notorious for being suboptimal) taking Yasuo from corner to corner.

Of course, there is a bit of community feedback to this trailer today. You might noticed how I mentioned 2XKO’s limited roster above and that’s been a big worry for players who are looking to get into the game, but this trailer also caught a bit of flack for Vi’s Ultimate where she… punches air, with a Tweet even saying that her Ultimate is implied and reaching 50k likes.

It’s true that, the longer 2XKO is held back from actual release the more the doubts begin to pile up. We can only hope that the free to play model and the community aspect of the game are able to win back the faith of the doubters.
