Developer miHoYo has released two new trailers for the 2.1 update of their action role-playing game Zenless Zone Zero known as “The Impending Crash of Waves.” Gematsu reports that the release is slated for July 16 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, iOS, Android and arrives as a major ‘summer-themed’ addition to the game’s narrative and roster.

The new update of Zenless Zone Zero is set in two new regions: Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort. These are both additions to New Eridu’s outskirts and are a seasonal backdrop where players will partake in a seaside investigation and coastal holiday attraction. Players will manage activities in Sailume Bay and participate in quests across the resort.

Two new S-Rank agents are introduced in Update 2.1. Ukinami Yuzuha is a physical support agent who utilizes candy bombs and a tanuki named Kama to generate anomaly buildup and trigger Aftershock attacks, She has a ‘Sweet Scare’ ability that adapts to an agent’s attribute, increasing anomaly damage. Alice Thymefield is a physical anomaly agent who consumes Blade Etiquette stacks to deal Disorder and Assault-type damage. Alice’s design reflects her noble roots and refined swordplay. Bangboo Miss, Esme joins as a support-type character that enhances HP and energy recovery. Banner reruns include the S-Rank agents Miyabi and Yanagi, who return as part of the Version 2.1 lineup.

Update 2.1 introduces seasonal content including water-based mini-games like surfing, yacht-based sea shooting, and fishing. New outfits have been included for Yuzuha, Alice, and the protagonists. A Bangboo battler event “En-Nah Chess Legend” has been added with a player versus player mode, a reworked ‘Simulated Battle Trial’ and new scoring system.

Developer miHoYo continues to strengthen the Zenless Zone Zero name with this new update, enticing loyal fans with their summer-themed enviroments and expanding roster of playable characters. With “The Impending Crash of Waves” releasing shortly, fans will be able to see if the title can reignite some of its initial launch hype.
