Recently Riot Games, the creators of the popular multiplayer first-person shooter, Valorant, have teased the release of their 14th agent. In a photo dump of Valorant themed wallpapers, there is one of Agent 14 which features a black silhouette. This new agent will be a part of the Duelist class – joining Raze, Phoenix, and Jett – and will be for “lurker” type players who want to sneak around the map.
Character producer, John Goscicki, mentioned in a recent blog post that Valorant is hoping to become more experimental in their new characters now that the basics of the game have been established. “When the game launched we were focused on getting all the extreme outliers into a reasonable place. Right now things are fairly stable, but there are still some Agents/Classes that need some deeper thought put into them,” Goscicki said. “Now that the basics are in place, we are going to take more risks with what each Agent introduces to the game, pushing some boundaries, and evolving what is possible in an ability-based tac shooter.”
Currently, Valorant has only thirteen playable characters as of now, though they are hoping to eventually have around 50-60 characters – which leads to around five per role. While this is going to be a large increase from what the game has current, it is still much less than other popular multiplayer games like League of Legends which has over 150 characters.
In Episode 1 Act 3 which released back in October, Riot debuted the new Icebox map as well as the new initiator agent, Skye. In this new map, players have noticed a trail of footprints left by an invisible character, possibly an easter egg for the upcoming agent.
This new character will release with Episode 2 Act 1 in January of 2021.
