Valorant Launch Week Met With Various Bugs and Server Issues

Earlier this week, Riot Games released their 5v5 team-based tactical shooter VALORANT on PC following the end of the game’s closed beta. The launch was met with few issues, however, including a glitch that prevented players from receiving their Battle Pass rewards. The VALORANT team announced via their Twitter on the game’s release date that the reward glitches would be addressed, and worked through the week to address glitches for separate regions. There were also cases of game crashes and server connection issues reported by players in Brazil, North America, and Latin America upon the initial release of the game.

Once complaints about server issues flooded in, the VALORANT team also shut down EU servers for immediate maintenance. The emergency maintenance was over in a few hours, and no further major server errors for the EU have been reported by the VALORANT team since. Players also reported issues of not receiving the extra Valorant Points that were promised to those who purchased bonus content from the store during the beta.

Players also criticized the VALORANT team for a number of other issues at the game’s launch, including an incorrect unrated version of the game that had been shipped to New Zealand servers. The team closed the servers upon finding the error and submitted an age-rating for the game in New Zealand. The community was quick to leave a number of negative reviews about the game on Metacritic, giving the game a score of 3.4 on its release week.

Despite the rocky start, the VALORANT team was quick to update any server issues for the game and patched a number of reported issues within the first few days of the game’s launch. Starting on June 4th, players were finally able to receive the rewards and content that they had earned from the beta and battle pass, including weapon skins and agent unlocks.
