Valheim Soon to Release on Xbox

With Valheim’s major success on the PC, Iron Gate, the developers, had announced during IGN’s Fan Fest 2023 that it will soon be released on Xbox.

The mythology-based survival game has over 300,000 reviews on Steam and 95% are overwhelmingly positive. Valheim came out in February 2021, during the peak of the pandemic. In just three weeks of release, Valheim had sold four million copies and seven million in July. Valheim has allowed players to explore the open world with both land and sea adventures that include action, building, and crafting. The biggest feature of this game is that players can play solo or co-op.

With the recent addition of a new biome called Mistlands, the developers had confirmed that a biome called the Ashlands will be implemented sometime soon. In development blog, they released concept art of what the new enemies will look like, “our current design vision for the Ashlands is that it’s a land of the dead, as well as a place with quite a volcanic nature.”

Robin Eyre, an artist for Valheim, had recently tweeted out a teaser showing “grotesque”  architectural designs for the game. Some fans speculate if the “stone slab roofs” and the vaulted ceilings will be implemented for players to use.

Iron Gate’s lead programmer, Jonathan Smars, confirmed in a tweet that there will be features like cross-playing throughout all platforms when the game is released on the Xbox. Smars also confirmed that the optimization for Xbox runs well and that the developers are looking to optimize the games on other platforms.

With Ashland being in the works and open communication from the developers, more content will soon come out for Xbox and PC players to enjoy. Iron Gate confirms that Valheim will be featured on Xbox on March 14.
