After the massive success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PC and especially mobile, the developer, Krafton, has decided to set their sights on a full PUBG sequel. Recently, this upcoming game, named PUBG: New State, was unveiled. The gameplay mechanics will be similar to its predecessor, as players will fight it out against one another in this battle royal game, but with increased complexity and better graphics. However, PUBG: New State will be developed by PUBG Studio instead of Tencent.
One of the major differences with PUBG: New State is that this battle royal will be set many decades in the future, specifically in 2051 in an area called Troi. We can see above in the trailer that new maps will be introduced along with new vehicles and weapons that highlight this 30-year time gap. Some of these new weapons and features include ballistic shields, drones, combat rolls, and more. Like its predecessor, players will be able to do all the typical customization with clothing and more. However, there will also be a new in-game customization feature that lets players build their own weapons through customization kits. Players can add-on additions to their weapons such as fire-mode selectors or grenade launchers which will affect their performance in-game.
PUBG: New State is expected to release sometime in 2021 on Android and iOS. Until then, prospective players can find out more information on the PUBG: New State website and if you are an Android user, you can currently pre-register on the Google Play store. Pre-ordering will give players exclusive benefits as well as limited edition vehicle skin.
