Publisher Skystone Games and developer Vanimals have announced that their zombie survival game UNDYING will be releasing for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on February 11. Gematsu shares that UNDYING originally launched in early access for PC in October 19, 2021 and received a full release on December 7, 2023. Japan did receive a Nintendo Switch edition which was made available on July 25, 2024.
UNDYING is set in a post-apocalyptic world. You will assume the role of Anling, a woman who has been bitten by a zombie, is infected with the virus and is slowly turning. She is faced with preparing her young son Cody with the reality of having to survive in the ruins.
IGN asked Jin Chan Yum Wai, UNDYING’s director what advice they may have for newcomers to the game, and he had this to say “For me, I would say take it slow and soak stuff in. There’s a lot of cool stories that we’ve hidden throughout the world. It’s quite detailed. We’re so proud of all the work of the artists have done… So I would say take your time. You know, we have that ‘easy mode’ for a reason, so don’t feel like you need to rush it. And, for those [dialogue option] answers, just be true to what you think you want to answer.”
David Brevik, game developer credited for his work on the Diablo series is lending his efforts for dungeon designs. UNDYING features a different map layout each time you start the game, while “unsafe areas” are filled with unplanned events.
UNDYING features a deeply emotional premise and promises to deliver that experience beyond the limitations of the yesteryear. With the broad range of platform availability, new players will get to experience Vanimals zombie survival horror title in just a couple weeks.
