It was recently announced at E3 that the hit PC game from 2015, Undertale, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this summer. The announcement was made via trailer which also advertised that the game will now also be available in Japanese.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Undertale is an 8-bit throwback RPG in which violence is optional. Where most RPGs encourage the blind killing of all monsters, Undertale gives you the option to befriend your enemies instead. Or you can choose to kill them all and take their gold and XP. The game features several different endings depending on who you kill and who you let live. The game also received a 92/100 aggregate score from MetaCritic, won GameFAQ’s “Best. Game. Ever.” poll and made our Top 10 Games of 2015.
The game will be available for pre-order soon from FanGamer.com and PlayStation Store. All physical copies will include an illustrated booklet featuring art from Temmie Chang, one of the game’s artists and namesake of the character Temmie. There will also be a Collector’s Edition available, which will include a physical copy of the game (for PS4, PS Vita or PC), the complete Undertale soundtrack, a booklet of sheet music for six of the game’s songs with annotations by the game’s creator, Toby Fox, and a gold-plated heart-shaped locket. The locket has the words “BEST FRIENDS FOREVER” inscribed on the inside, referencing the locket that is an attainable item in the game. The locket is also a music box that plays the song “Home (Music Box)” from the soundtrack. You can watch the E3 trailer below.
