The last large update for For Honor was the Marching Fire Expansion pack back in October. This brought in two new game modes, the Wu Lin, an entire new clan, and four new heroes for the Wu Lin clan. It also updated all the graphics and it was well received among fans. In it, there was a small tease known as “Year of the Harbinger”, which had a hammer in the ground.
The Year of the Harbinger is upon us! Get the Year 3 Pass and unlock early access to the 4 new heroes coming in 2019, plus an elite outfit for each. With the Year 3 Pass, you’ll also receive 30 days Champion Status, five Scavenger Crates, and an exclusive effect!

This new update is now live, and players who want to be a part of the “Year of the Harbinger” can get a Year 3 Pass which allows them to get exclusive content including a 30 day Champion Status, five Scavenger crates, an exclusive effect, and early access to the upcoming 5 new hero’s in 2019 and a skin for each of them.
What are the new characters? Well, Ubisoft gave little time to breathe between the Year of the Harbinger Tweet, and a very familiar presence in a teaser trailer:

The video, and simple sentence, says it all. With the flash of each of the faction’s icons, and then the Abstergo logo, this could only mean that Assassins Creed is coming to For Honor.
While For Honor tries to be as realistic as it can for weaponry, classes, and the like, there is always something that breaks the reality. It is unrealistic that these factions would all be on the same battlefield as one another, so why not throw something in that adds to the partially-history-mostly-fantasy brouhaha.
This is only a tease after all, and there are numerous Assassins Creed characters and games, but it does beg the question: will it be characters that they add to the game? Most of the comments on the tweet are questioning whether or not the crossover will be just a character. One person believes For Honor to be adding another new faction:
-adds templars-

Possibly, but less likely as Templars Knights and the Knights in the game already could be too similar. Another person believes it more to be cosmetics:
Some AC inspired costumes I think?

Whether the crossover is cosmetics, characters, a new faction based around the Assassins Creed series, or maps that are going to be added, everyone has their own thoughts on it. Ubisoft has state in the teaser video that all the answers will be revealed on December 20, during their Warrior’s Den Livestream. To keep up with that, follow their For Honor twitter. And to find out which new addition it could be, remember: Everything is true, nothing is permitted.
