Ubisoft Talks About Watch Dogs 2 Preorder and New Assassin’s Creed Game

Following Ubisoft’s most recent earnings call, its management has talked about two key expectations: the Watch Dogs 2 preorder and the new Assassin’s Creed game coming in 2017. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says that the Watch Dogs 2 preorder hasn’t been what they originally expected.

The preorders are not as high as we thought they could be but we feel like the experience is a fantastic experience so we feel it can do extremely well.

Ubisoft CFO Alain did say that preorders are necessarily indicative of the overall sales of the game.

What we are trying to say [is that] preorders are indeed very important, quality is very important, but also the attention that you put on the game over the long term is also very very key.

Watch Dogs 2 is set for released for PS4 and Xbox One on November 15, with the PC version being available two week later on November 29.

Guillemot was not able to comment much about the new main series Assassin’s Creed title.

We can’t say much about that yet–we are working hard on this game and it will be launched when ready. It’s a great game. I’ve seen it. It’s looking good.

Ubisoft broke tradition this year, not releasing new main series Assassin’s Creed game this year, opting for a 2017 release instead. The new Assassin’s Creed game is rumored to take place in Egypt and set for release in 2017, but it will not be released until it is ready, not leaving us with an exact date for its release. The Ezio Trilogy is still set for release later this month on November 12The Ezio Trilogy contains Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Ubisoft editorial VP Tommy Francois said earlier that a new Far Cry game is currently in development, which will also be released sometime in 2017.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
