Ubisoft Reveals the Post-Launch Roadmap for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

In a new trailer, Ubisoft has outlined its post-launch plans for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. With Odyssey launching in just a few weeks, the publisher offered up details on its extensive list of both free and paid content that will be coming to the game following its launch. Players will be seeing content roll out through the rest of 2018 and into 2019, especially as Ubisoft has already confirmed that no new Assassin’s Creed game is going to release in 2019. Instead, the publisher will be filling up 2019 with add-ons to Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

“From the beginning, we intended the release of the game to be just the beginning of our players’ odyssey,” said the game’s director, Scott Phillips. “This year, our post-launch plans will give players more story content in a brand-new, episodic format. Similar to how you anticipate a TV show season premiere, or catch up on streaming services, we’re going to continuously provide new gameplay for players to look forward to. It’s our most ambitious post-launch support ever for Assassin’s Creed.”

As such, free content includes multiple additional story missions for the game called The Lost Tales of Greece, which all players will be able to download. Those missions are set to roll out between the game’s paid DLC, and involve characters both new and old from Odyssey. In addition, daily and weekly contracts will be introduced for all players to take part in, and Ubisoft will be introducing a free New Game Plus mode and a Discovery Tour mode like that of its previous title, Assassin’s Creed: Origins. The Discovery Tour mode essentially allows players to explore the game’s world and learn about Ancient Greece without any enemies or quests getting in the way.

When it comes to paid DLC, Odyssey will also be getting a Season Pass with even more content focused on deep storytelling. Currently announced DLC include two “major” story arcs, each broken up into three episodes. The first story arc is called Legacy of the First Blade, and begins this December. The next arc, called The Fate of Atlantis, begins in the spring of 2019 and involves the legendary underwater city. The Season Pass will also get players access to two remastered Assassin’s Creed games: Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

Players can pick up the Season Pass separately for $40, or included in the Gold, Ultimate, Spartan and Pantheon Editions of Odyssey. You can also check out the full trailer from Ubisoft about its post-launch roadmap below:

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
