After a number of product image leaks this week, it has been confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito, the star of the hit drama television series Breaking Bad, will be featured as the villain in the newest Far Cry title. Just a few days prior to the Ubisoft Forward online presentation and conference, Ubisoft confirmed via Twitter that Esposito would be involved in the newest entry for the series. With just the caption, “Anton would not be pleased” the teaser revealed Esposito’s character as the new major villain in Far Cry 6.
In recent interview, Giancarlo Esposito also teased that he had been working on a role in a “huge” gaming project, but he could not reveal much else. The formal announcement for the game will be happening on Sunday, July 12th, during Ubisoft’s Forward conference.
According to an official game listing for Far Cry 6 that was leaked, Giancarlo Esposito has been confirmed as the game’s primary antagonist, along with details for the game’s next-gen console release. The listing also states that the game will be releasing on next-generation consoles, as well as the current Xbox One, PS4, and PC systems. Those who purchase the previous generation of Far Cry 6 will be eligible to upgrade the game for free if they choose to swap to a next-generation console.
The translation for the store page also offers glimpse into what the story may be about, “welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.” More information about the official release, story, and gameplay for Far Cry 6 will be announced at the Ubisoft live event on July 12th.
