Ubisoft Claims that Rainbow Six Quarantine’s New Title is not Parasite

It’s been a while since we heard anything about Ubisoft’s next entry in the Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Quarantine. That all changed when it was reported that Ubisoft was planning to remove Quarantine from the title, and instead give it new name. Thanks to some digging in a file uploaded to the PlayStation Store, it was discovered that the new name was going to be Rainbow Six Parasite, complete with images to boot. However, Ubisoft quickly responded to this by revealing that the Parasite name was merely a placeholder and that the official title would be revealed at a later time.

In a statement made to Eurogamer, Ubisoft says that the name is only being used for internal play-testing, “We can confirm this is glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon.”  Considering how convincing the key art looks here, it’s fairly surprising to see that Parasite is not the new name for this Rainbow Six title. Rainbow Six Quarantine was originally revealed at E3 2019 during Ubisoft’s presentation. Instead of the standard break-and-enter shooter style that the series is known for, the new entry will instead be more akin to the Left 4 Dead franchise, where players will work together in order to save the human race from an alien threat.

Quarantine was initially slated to launch sometime in 2020 but was pushed back due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The game is now scheduled to release this year, albeit still without concrete date, nor a complete title. Hopefully, Ubisoft updates us with both pieces of information sooner than later. In the meantime, there’s still the ever-popular Rainbow Six Siege which is set to receive its sixth official season, which includes a brand new heist.
