Two Point Studios Acquired By Sega

Sega has now officially announced that they have acquired Two Point Studios the developer behind Two Point Hospital. The acquisition happened under Sega Europe’s Searchlight program. The purpose of the program is to find new and “exciting development talent.”

Two Point Studios was initially founded in 2016 by Mark Webley and Gary Carr, who have two decades of experience working together. Now, Sega, who has been working as a publisher for the developer for two years, has made the studio their own.

In regards to the acquisition of the studio, Gary Dale, Sega Europe president and chief operating officer, stated, “We’re delighted to welcome Two Point Studios officially in to the Sega family. As a relatively new, British-based developer with a global hit already under their belts, we knew we had to move quickly on this deal because they are an extremely attractive investment proposition with a great deal of talent.”

Webley also shared a great enthusiasm about the new ownership of the studio. “It’s a landmark step for Two Point Studios and we’re thrilled to be joining the Sega family. We’re looking forward to executing the next phase of our plans as we continue to evolve Two Point County.” He would continue on by stating, “It’s a hugely exciting time to be a part of Two Point and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of our small, but amazingly talented team here in Farnham and the incredible fans that have supported us throughout and guided our continued development of Two Point Hospital.”

It sounds like Sega and Two Point have something up their sleeve now that this acquisition is official. Their future plans for the most part are currently unknown, but it’s clear that the Sega has something in store for the studio and its team.
