Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint Officially Revealed

After teasing new game reveal for today and confirming that it will be a new Tom Clancy game, Ubisoft has officially revealed Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, a sequel to  Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Similar to Wildlands, Breakpoint is open-world and is fully playable solo or co-op. The game takes place on Auroa, a remote island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Auroa is very diverse from snowy peaks, sandy beaches, jungles, deserts, fjords, and a volcano. The story of Breakpoint follows Nomad, a Ghost on a mission to Auroa going after Jace Skell, a tech genius whose inventions of AI and autonomous drones have gone awry. As you get to the island, things go bad and you are constantly hunted behind enemy lines, hence the name Breakpoint.

“A Breakpoint is a forced posture change, a shift from attack to defend, from defend to withdraw, from recon… to survive; It is the moment when a unit has lost its combat effectiveness, when it is no longer able to fight; The onset of this inability to carry out a mission constitutes a Breakpoint“.

Along with the AI and autonomous drones, players will have to face against the most formidable opponents that the Ghosts have ever faced, the Wolves. The Wolves are elite Spec Ops soldiers who have the same training as the Ghosts and they have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into powerful killing machines.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint features several new gameplay features for the franchise. One new aspect of gameplay is how the terrain can impact gameplay. The new Prone Camo feature allows players to blend into the environment so you can escape or surprise enemies. Several new gameplay features also affect stealth. You can pick up and hide the body of an enemy or move wounded Ghosts to safety.

Another new feature is how players are able to suffer serious injuries. Depending on how badly you’re injured could affect if you can still run or aim your weapon. You’re able to heal on the spot or you can use the new Bivouac feature. The Bivouac feature allows players to rest and refit in the wilderness with their squad similar to what real Spec Op soldiers do. Breakpoint will have a wide variety of tools such as being able to cut through fences; drones that allows you to Sync Shot multiple targets; and a Rocket Launcher which you can use to take down enemies.

There will be many enemy archetypes that will have different abilities and weapons. Also, the behavior of enemies have evolved. Enemies will coordinate together  if you get spotted or they become suspiciousMultiple classes are available in Breakpoint. You can change classes anytime with the Bivouac. 4 classes are available to choose from at launch with more coming in the future.

The game features a new story with hundreds of cutscenes,  and dialogue choices. At launch, PVP will be available and progress will be shared throughout the game. Post launch, every four months a new major expansion episode will be released and includes the first raid in a Ghost Recon game.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint releases on October 4 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
