Twitch App Developers Craft New Features for Mobile Viewers

Have you ever wanted to browse other channels without having to return to and reload the channel you were just in? Have you ever wanted to lock your phone screen or use another app while still tuning in to someone’s stream? Well, multitasking viewers, you’re in luck! The mobile app developers over at Twitch recently added a couple of new features for viewers like me who are on the go or lying in bed watching late night streams.

The latest iOS and Android Twitch app updates introduce the Persistent Player, which allows you to continue watching your current broadcast while browsing other content. This new feature not only lets you simultaneously watch video and access the rest of the app, but also saves the non-Turbo user the trouble of enduring the ads that accompany a channel refresh.

A bonus feature for Android owners is the Audio Only mode, which lets you lock your screen or keep the app running in the background while you use other apps. It’s particularly handy for those who want to listen to uninterrupted esports broadcasts without sacrificing access to other social media outlets. This mode can also be controlled via system notifications from outside of the app.

I applaud the Twitch app developers for these updates as they immensely improve the mobile experience. It’s almost like they read my mind! What else would you like to see added or improved upon?
