Streamers, get your cameras ready. Twitch is looking for the brightest up and coming stars to compete on their new reality show, Stream On.
Twitch announced today that auditions are open for a game show that will pit streamers against one another. They will face a series of challenges meant to test their streaming skills, their ability to entertain, and to lead a community. They will be evaluated by a panel of Twitch Judges but audiences in the Twitch chat will also have an impact on who moves on and who gets eliminated.
Unlike other competition shows, contestants won’t be competing together in a studio. Instead Stream On will take place across multiple Twitch channels, and contestants will be competing from their home setups. Then each week the whole thing will be wrapped up with a recap and elimination show from Twitch Studios.
If exposure for your channel isn’t enticing enough, Twitch is also offering a $60,000 grand prize. The winner will receive $5,000 per month for a year in order to “take their streaming career to the next level.”
At the moment, auditions are only open to Twitch Partners who reside in the U.S., U.K., or Canada. While there is no set threshold to qualify to become a partner, it does require streamers have an established audience, post regularly at least three times per week and have content that follows all Terms of Service and Rules of Conduct.
Twitch Studios says that this is necessary because they are looking for “streamers who are right on the cusp of making streaming full-time a possibility.” They feel that those who haven’t reached that level won’t benefit as much from the competition. However they also won’t be selecting the most popular channels. They are looking to elevate rising talent and help streamers get their full time career off the ground.
If you feel like you’re right for the competition you can submit your audition video on Twitch. For interested viewers, Stream On will premiere in March 2018.
