Retro-Gaming Publisher and Manufacturer Retro-Bit Reaches Licensing Deal with Sega

Retro-Bit, a retro-game-focused publisher and manufacturer, has been supplying old-school gamers with more modern versions of old games, consoles, and peripherals since 2009. In an announcement posted today, Retro-Bit announced their licensing agreement with Sega to produce revamped, older-generation-Sega related gaming parts.

“With retro gaming on an upswing, we are pleased to offer officially SEGA licensed accessories in their original format as well as apply the innovative classic gaming enhancements that have become the hallmark of Retro-Bit,” says Titi Ngoy, President and CEO of Innex Inc., Retro-Bit’s exclusive distributor. This licensing agreement enables Retro-Bit to begin production of Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, and Sega Dreamcast related products. The initial production run, as well as future production runs, will also adhere to the original feel and design of the Sega controllers, giving that little bit of an extra throwback touch.

Retro-Bit specializes in bringing back nostalgia through their gaming consoles and retro-peripherals. In addition, the Sega consoles and peripherals will accommodate for the modern audience by giving the technology a more modern feel. The consoles will have both USB ports for the USB controllers, but will also support Bluetooth wireless controllers as well. The USB controllers will also be compatable with the PC for computer gaming. For additional convenience, the console should also have all the selected games from the Sega era bundled into one console, ala the recent Nintendo classic gaming consoles.

Top hits from the last Sega console era include Street Fighter Alpha 3, Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, Mortal Kombat II, Altered Beast, Quake III Arena, Marvel vs. Capcom II, Soul Calibur, Jet Set Radio, and Sega’s mascot character, Sonic the Hedgehog, should all hopefully be ported onto the Retro-Bit consoles.

You can expect to see a first look of the the initial Sega Retro-Bit products shown off at the Las Vegas Convention Center for CES 2018, which begins January 9th and ends on January 12th.
