Alfamonk’s Tutorial Hell, redefines the aid of the trusty tutorial that new gamers use and rely on in every game. In their game, the tutorial is your enemy, playing tricks in order to to gain your life probably, while you still have to venture into the world of the game. Everything and anything seems to be against you at least that’s what it seems from the Gameplay trailer, published for the game. The game itself will be on Steam early next year.
“The Tutorial lies” we find out, after the tutorial drops a cardboard wall on the first person player at the opening of what might be a dungeon. Nevertheless you must clear the multiple missile and threat filled rooms in order to win. However, each space is special with different locals and challenges for the player to survive. We even breach the fourth wall and type our name in a computer in one round it seems. However, the tutorial warnings ring again, when the player “enable Comfort Mode” and the whole screen in one location starts to shake in a decidedly not comfortable manner.
It’s a game of wits, with the tutorial making even to “SAVE GAME” hard, and difficult choices every round, where you have to choose whether to believe the game itself and formulate battle tactics. You’re not alone, there are other characters in the game, such as giant skeletons that bash you around, and wandering things. Each round seems quite difficult to get through, as one round you fight Qwerty itself thanks to the tutorial, in another round massive missile strikes, and in a third one being shot down and more. The game’s also not without minor inconveniences such as having to undergo captcha, and fighting a giant capybara called “KAPY-SAMA” and his anime like monologues and equally anime like explosive power.
