During a recent interview with Polygon at PAX West, Suda51 threw hints that the newly announced title Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes getting multiplayer features added for the Nintendo Switch, a first for the series. No More Heroes series is an action packed open world game full of sword slashing combat, suggestive themes, and lots of blood. The director explained that the game will indeed be sticking with it’s root formula, and also that the development team is taking extra care in making sure that the game is entirely playable on a single Nintendo Switch Joy Con. So this leads the rest of us to question the need for the second one.
Suda51 explained, “As far as what’s going to happen with the other Joy-Con, at this point technically it’s still a secret,” We’re going to be releasing information at some point in the future, but as you can see, there are … two main characters, so draw your own conclusions, if you want.” Badman, the second main character is an entirely new one who is the father of one of Travis’s old enemies who was defeated some time ago in the series. He made his debut in the debut trailer for the game. However it is currently unknown whether Badman will be an ally or foe in the game.
Having a multiplayer experience entirely with one Joy Con would be interesting but Suda51 has gotten experience with designing games for Nintendo’s unique consoles in the past with No More Heroes, and it’s sequel on the Wii. Only time will tell how the developer will take use the Switch’s unique controllers among other features to their advantage for this new entry in the series.
