Many RPGs have taken players to realms of fantasies and dream. And now players will learn how science and magic go together in The Thaumaturge. The game is being developed by Fool’s Theory, published by 11 bits Studio, and is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. It is a turn-based RPG with a rich story. While the game is still in development, there have been two trailers this week that give players a sneak peek and what’s to come in this dark mysterious journey.
The game is set in 1905 Warsaw back when Imperial Russia had control over lands due to the power of Tsars. It is a place where a diverse group of people live together. However, no city is without its problems. In this story-driven RPG, players take on the role of a Thaumaturge. From the trailer, we see a thaumaturge summoning a giant demon-looking creature with a book and magic. Thaumaturges have the ability to tame spirit-like beings called Salutors. Depending on the person, Salutors could be used for evil purposes. Salutors can be used to manipulate people’s temperaments and affinities which would spell for disaster.
In The Thaumaturge, players will make their choices as dialogue options will shape the outcome of the story. This will allow for players to shape their own unique Thaumaturge so they stand out a bit more and give players the feeling the character they are playing isnt the same as someone else, giving it that personal touch. Players will also use the power of the salutors who influence the people around them as progress through the story. The battle system is turn based and players will harness the power of salutor’s ability to influence others as well as the skills of being human. Players will experience history as well as encounter history figures as they play the game. The Thaumaturge is still in development but is available to wishlist on Steam, Epic Games, and GOG.
