Trailer Released for No Code’s Upcoming Game Observation

No Code, the developer that brought you the horror/puzzle game Stories Untold, is back along with publisher Devolver Digital for the newly announced sci-fi thriller, Observation for PC and PS4. It will be No Code’s first console release, with Stories Untold released on macOS and Microsoft Windows in 2017. The reveal trailer was published by IGN earlier today and provides a sinister glimpse of just how frightening the final frontier can be.

Players will take control of the artificial intelligence system on board a space station where an inexplicable catastrophic event has affected the station and crew. As the A.I. named SAM, the player will attempt to aid one of the crew members, Dr. Emma Fisher, in a seemingly futile attempt to communicate with both ground control and the rest of her crew. Utilizing the tools of your average multi-billion dollar space station tech, players will look through the lenses of different cameras around the craft to explore and solve puzzles. The goal is to solve the mysterious disappearance of the rest of the crew and figure out what happened to the ship to cause the whole mess in the first place.

Just to put the cherry on top of an already chilling situation, SAM must deal with a cryptic transmission received from an unknown entity stating ominously, “BRING HER.” Will SAM go rogue or stay obedient to the astronauts it was created to assist? I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a very HAL-vibe from all of this.

If No Code’s past performance with Stories Untold is any indication, we’re in for a delightfully unsettling gaming experience. Stories Untold received numerous accolades and was named one of IGN’s best horror games of 2017 along with heavy hitters such as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and The Evil Within 2.

Observation is slated for release on PS4 and PC in the Spring of 2019.
