The latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase went live on the Nintendo YouTube channel today, highlighting 14 games coming to the Nintendo Switch and more. Some of the games are available right now on the eShop, such as Spiritfarer and Takeshi and Hiroshi. Other titles announced their highly anticipated arrivals to the Switch over time.
Among them is the Greek mythology-inspired game Hades, developed by Supergiant, the same studio responsible for Transistor and Bastion. The trailer shows off the vibrant 2D art style and graphics, along with music from its original soundtrack. Gameplay is that of a rogue-like dungeon crawler, with footage showcasing a smooth and immersive battle style. An early access version of Hades has been available on PC for while, and now the Switch port of the game will arrive in the Fall. The early access phase is also said to be coming to a close by the end of the year.
Another highly anticipated title, A Short Hike, was one of last year’s most acclaimed PC indie games. In addition to countless other awards, the game took home the grand prize, Best Independent Game, at the 22nd annual Independent Games Festival Awards. A Short Hike shares a similar allure to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing and combines it with more of an exploration and adventure style of play. The trailer does justice to the games playful yet peaceful tone, combining beautifully pixelated scenery with undeniable cheerful tunes. The best news, however, is that this game is available right now on the eShop!
The Nintendo Indie Showcase also made time to share some updates coming to Untitled Goose Game. Launching on the Switch last year, Untitled Goose Game became nonsensical yet charming hit, allowing players to wreak havoc on a town… as a goose. Now, players can wreak havoc with their friends starting next month, in an update that introduces a two-player co-op mode. Given that the game is already on the Switch, this tidbit may have gotten buried within the hefty announcements revealed throughout the digital event.
