Koei Tecmo Games is one of Japan’s more notable developers and publishers on the market, alongside industry giants Sony, Konami, and Square Enix. Their most recognizable titles are Warriors Orochi and of course the Dynasty Warriors franchise. At the Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo Games had their own panel in which the developers and show hosts looked over the history of the Dynasty Warriors games and their future as a franchise.
While a lot of the time was dedicated to looking over Dynasty Warriors 9, they did reveal a new game. The new game is another Dynasty Warriors Mobile. The mobile version will be coming out in late 2020 and will be compatible with iPhone 8 or above along with their Android equivalents. Oppo A57s will be able to play a version developed just for them as well, which is a popular brand of phones in China and India.
They also came out with a new reveal, something that piqued the interest of long-time franchise fans. Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires was just announced and is in development. The game follows the linear RPG and strategy hybrid which has players conquering ancient China. While Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is technically already out for PlayStation 3, which came out in 2015, the game is getting a new overhaul and remaster. The remaster overhauls the graphics and tweaks the progression system in order to keep the franchise up to date with the new industry standards. Not much of the story is being overhauled, it will have new voice acting.
Dynasty Warriors 8 Empire’s remaster is going to be released out in 2021. The game will be made available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and will have a PC version that will be distributed on Steam. The game will also be sold on its own proprietary website and game launcher.
