After a slight delay postponing the Tides of Torment expansion for Total War: Warhammer 3 from releasing earlier this year, we’re finally going to see the three new legendary lords as well as all their unique units being brought to Creative Assembly’s latest foray into the fantastical and bloody world of Warhammer Fantasy finally coming to the game on December 4th, 2025.

The legendary lords are Sayl the Faithless, a Chaos Sorcerer representing the Norsca faction, Sea Lord Aislinn bringing the fight to the Druchii for the High Elf faction, and front and center we have Dechala the Denied One, a Chaos Champion of Slaanesh representing Slaanesh’ demon faction. They all look fantastic, with Dechala in particular having some cool and gnarly animations of her helicoptering through hordes of enemies, though the other two have some great gimmicks as well: Sayl brings his “pet” Nightmaw, created from the three bodies of the apprentices he betrayed for his power. And Aislinn brings some gorgeously modeled High Elf units in the form of giant eagles, Mist Mages, water elementals, and his pet sea monster.

Joining these three is the free DLC legendary lord The Masque, a dancing demon lord of Slaanesh, so the Slaaneshi cultists will definitely be pleased with this update. As always, even legendary lord brings their own unique campaign and map mechanics, as well as a few unique units of their own, with some of these campaigns lasting dozens of hours it makes sense to call these updates “expansions”.

It’s nice to see Total War: Warhammer 3 still releasing updates despite a somewhat rocky start. If you’re a Slaanesh loyalist or if the other two legendary lords and their units look interesting to you, keep an eye out for Tides of Torment as it released on December 4th, 2025.
