Usually around this time of year developers and other companies within the gaming industry are either locking in or announcing their plans for E3. However we have just got confirmation from one company that they are not planning on showing up to the big convention this summer.
THQ Nordic, the publisher behind games like Darksiders III as well as Biomutant has announced that they will not be attending E3 this year. Instead, the publisher stated that they will be spending their time drinking beer and watching the 2018 FIFA World Cup, while also keeping an eye out for any interesting press conferences.
“It is with great regret that we at THQ Nordic must report that we will be unable to miss a single moment of this great sporting event,” the publisher said. “Therefore, we will be forced to stay in our lovely Viennese beer gardens, blowing the froth off a couple, watching football and one or two cool press conferences on Twitch (looking at you, Devolver) instead of rocking it ourselves.”
THQ Nordic also stated that instead of showing off more of their new titles like Darksiders III, Biomutant, Fade to Silence and Wreckfest at E3 they will be waiting for other conventions like Gamescom, which takes place late in August and also at PAX West. They aren’t the first publisher to announce that they will not have a presence on E3 2018’s show floor as Microsoft recently announced that they will be moving their set up to the Microsoft Theater during E3 week.
