“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants!” The iconic animated character will be returning in a new game. Our yellow-sponged hero was last seen in the previous title, Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated fighting alongside his friends, Patrick and Sandy against Plankton and his robot army. And now he’s found himself in trouble again. THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for the upcoming release of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. The trailer dubbed Meet the Bikini Bottomites introduces players to the other characters of the game.
From a previous trailer shown earlier this year, players learned SpongeBob was given a potion of magic bubble from Kassandra, who appears to be a fortune teller. The magic bubble is unleashed, Patrick is turned into a balloon and the rest of SpongeBob’s friends are transported to other worlds. SpongeBob must now travel to seven different worlds to rescue them. We see SpongeBob is reunited with a few of his friends, but they are not the same as before they were sucked into the different worlds. Mr. Krabs is now an outlaw in a western-themed world looking to rob travelers, Sandy has become a sheriff set out to bring order to the land and SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is now a monstrous evil monarch.
In this 3D platform will have players go through obstacles while searching for SpongeBob’s friends. In the previous game, players were able to also play as Patrick and Sandy. However, fans will only be able to play as SpongeBob, but he will have a variety of abilities. Costumes will play a role in how SpongeBob obtains abilities. The costumes are based on the television series. SpongeBob has karate powers from his gloves and headgear while he is also seen on a medieval quest in his jester outfit. The game is currently available for pre-order. Fans who pre-order will receive 7 additional costume sets for free. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be available on January 31st, 2023 on all modern platforms.
