Third PlayStation State of Play Highlighted by The Last of Us Part II Release Date

Today, PlayStation held their third State of Play video presentation and showed off a plethora of new things for a variety of upcoming games heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. The biggest thing revealed during the presentation was the highly anticipated The Last of Us Part II getting a new trailer that showed tons of story hints, a first look at Joel and his brother Tommy, and finally revealing a release date of February 21, 2020.

Elsewhere, the presentation started with a reveal of Humanity a game from Enhance where you control hordes of people to accomplish objectives, and will coming to PS4 and PSVR at some point in 2020. Wattam, a very eccentric looking game from the mind behind Katamari Damacy Keita Takahashi, was shown with a release window of December 2019.

Arise A Simple Story from Piccolo and published by Techland is about journey through limbo to the top of a mountain, and will be coming soon to PS4. We also got a new look at After Party from Night School, the developers behind Oxenfree, which is about 2 best buds trying to out drink Satan and escape Hell, and will be releasing next month. Civialization VI was finally announced to be coming to PS4 on November 22, 2019.

A slew of VR titles were also showcased. Rockstar’s L.A. Noire The VR Case Files is finally out on PSVR today. A montage featuring upcoming VR games including Gorn, Espire1: VR Operative, Stardust Odyssey, After the Fall, and Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! was also shown. Thus, PSVR owners have a ton of new things to look forward to.

A new story trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was shown and reveals what may be a dramatic story where chemical weapons on being used. There was also a short glimpse at the multiplayer Special Ops Survival mode which will be exclusive to PS4 for a year before coming to other consoles.

We also got another look at the upcoming remake of the PlayStation classic MediEvil. A demo for the game is available today and players will be able to receive Dan’s helmet for use in the main game once completing the demo. A special Death Stranding PlayStation 4 Pro will be available when the game launches. The console itself is white with BT footprints on the top and comes with a yellow/gold translucent controller and a copy of the game. Finally, October PS Plus games were announced and will include the two first party titles The Last of US Remastered and MLB The Show 19.
