Developer TeamKill Media have released a new trailer confirming the launch date of their third-person action horror title Code Violet. Gematsu reports that the title is set for launch on November 14 on the PlayStation 5.
Code Violet is set in the Aion Bioengineering Complex, a 25th-century human colony on the exoplanet Trappist 1-E, which has become overrun by prehistoric dinosaurs due to a disastrous time-travel experiment aimed at preventing human extinction. Players assume the role of Violet Sinclair, a woman abducted from the past and brought to the present to be a surrogate as part of humanity’s attempt to avoid extinction. Violet’s main goal is to escape the Aion Bioengineering Complex and save her allies.
In Code Violet players will primarily outmaneuver dinosaurs using scarce resources, stealth and manage limited inventory space prioritizing weapons, healing items, puzzle-solving tools. Battles take place in the third person with melee and ranged abilities. Shared in TeamKill Media’s press release the team emphasizes the tech used to power environments “Lose yourself in haunting jungles and neon-lit facilities, where dynamic lighting, shadows, and reflections heighten the terrifying atmosphere.” Teamkill Media has also emphasized the implementation of Sony’s 3D Audio and Adaptive Triggers and Haptic Feedback for weapon recoil, evasion struggles, puzzle interactions, and combat impacts. Players will be able to unlock new paths through environmental and mechanical puzzles. Code Violet features classic dinosaur designs with modern AI for chase encounters.
TeamKill Media’s intent with Code Violet seems to be to deliver an engaging, cinematic third-person horror experience harkening to classic survival horror titles such as Dino Crisis. The focus on this title is strategic resource management, engaging combat, contextual puzzles, all encapsulated within a story-heavy narrative. Code Violet may have found itself a comfortable home on Sony’s own console, though time will tell how its pieces come together for players this November.
