Developed by OtherSide Entertainment and Published by Megabit Gaming, Thick As Thieves, is a new thief-centered game. The game launched, May 20th on Steam and with it came a new Launch trailer.
Thick As Thieves is described on Steam as a “stealth-action heist game, playable solo or with a partner in crime in co-op multiplayer.” Set in a fictional Scottish city of “Kilcairn” that is full of “magic and industry” the game follows the perspectives of thieves looking to “claim precious heirlooms and uncover arcane secrets.”
The Launch Trailer expands on this description more, as it shows the city of Kilcairn: a slightly modern city full of skyscrapers, a train, and a massive building. The building is full of cops that the character observes, then walks across ropes and pipes to sneak into buildings. The trailer shows the first person view of the thief moving slowly, while hiding behind stairs by actively crouching, following and attacking cops. There are also lots of valuables shown in the trailer, which the thief opens up from their displays.
“The Constables Guild Hall” is the place to be. The trailer shows a map of the building, including the layout, location of goodies and more. There are also secretive underground hallways. “Alwyne Manor” is guarded by lights and seemingly ghost cops that float everywhere, in this setting the playable character isn’t alone. Alwyne Manor also contains hidden notes that hold “secrets” and many more. The place is extremely full of cops so the trailer shows some ways thieves can get around, such as: crouching in the “shadows,” distracting with “noise,” “a bit of magic” and finally a fellow thief to help. The thief turns off a light and after entering a building, there’s some collisions with cops that play out as the thief runs and jumps, closing the trailer.
