Religious horror is arguably one of the most terrifying subgenres of horror, and METAMORPHOSIS encapsulates what makes it so eerie perfectly.
This game takes place in a world where human kind created a rapture themselves rather than waited for one as many Bibles and religions preach will come one day. Set in the future, the Earth has since been beaten and broken down due to war and the overall evilness of humans; with the surface bring collapsed, there is only silence below.
You play as Aria, a forsaken nurse who has her own issues as well as what is currently going on around her. Driven by guilt, faith, and something she cannot escape, she descends into the depths to bring salvation to a world that surely needs it. While facing brutal encournters, she asks the question: Could the answer to salvation really still be here?
The one thing Aria doesn’t have is time, the world needs to be saved now, and there’s only one way to do it.
She’s influenced by demons who are not only Biblical, but man-made as well. They ones she gives the time of day to might wind up making her regret it. She can only stay so strong and act like the terrible things being said don’t affect her, but she takes them to heart more than she would anticipate. Harsh thing like a dark figure looming over her prodding at her: “Aren’t you sick of it? Of letting that illusion control you? There is another way. We will survive.”
For Aria, she must find meaning in this broken world despite all the internal and external battles she is facing along the way. The world and humanity needs her.
METAMORPHOSIS is available to playtest and wishlist on Steam now.
