The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game Director Added to Cyberpunk 2077 Development Team

CD Projekt Red has added a new member to the development team of their highly anticipated upcoming RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. According to his LinkedIn profile, as of last month, longtime CD Projekt Red designer and game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has joined the Cyberpunk 2077 team, and will now serve as the game’s design director. Along with this move, Tomaszkiewicz will now be the studio’s vice president of game development.

Tomaszkiewicz has worked for the Polish studio for fifteen years, and served as a designer on the first two entries of the studio’s acclaimed The Witcher game series. He most recently served as the game director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alongside Sebastian Stepien and Mateusz Kanik. Meanwhile, Stepien also joined the Cyberpunk 2077 team as lead writer and narrative director before leaving CD Projekt Red and joining Blizzard Entertainment at the beginning of the year.

Cyberpunk 2077 made its official debut at Microsoft’s E3 press conference last year alongside behind closed door demo for the press. A few months later, the Polish studio revealed the near fifty minute gameplay behind closed door demo to the public on Twitch. Since then, CD Projekt Red has announced Warner Bros. Interactive as the game’s North American distributor as well as announcing Bandai Namco as the game’s publisher in Europe.

CD Projekt Red would then go on to enlist the help of the Canadian studio Digital Scapes to come in and help with the game. Then, days ago, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the game will appear at this year’s E3 in June. Cyberpunk 2077 currently has no release window in sight, but the studio is targeting the current generation of consoles of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside PC for the game’s release. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see the game pushed back to the next generation of consoles that appear to be just over the horizon.

Avid believer that video games present the best storytelling opportunities out of any media, and that needs to be conveyed. Former competitive Pokemon player. Attended university to study game development. Wouldn't be who I am today without games.
