Nintendo has proven with the Switch that ports for the hybrid console can be commercially viable despite the gaps in release dates compared to other consoles. Both independent and triple A titles that launched on the Switch later still appealed to the large player base, as many cite the portability of the console as a good reason to revisit certain games. Following the releases of popular franchises such as Wolfenstein, Doom, Dark Souls, Civilization, and more, it would seem that CD Projekt Red’s RPG masterpiece The Witcher 3 may arrive on the Switch as well, if a recent listing by a French wholesaler is to be believed.
First seen via Direct-Feed Games and later posted to a ResetEra forum, the listing provided by major French distributor WTT (that has now been removed) pointed to a Switch port of The Witcher 3 later down the line. This type of wholesale listing is by no means uncommon, as the possibility of certain titles often raise discussion and speculation on forums when such news are caught. Though as promising as retail leaks can be, these listings have ended up being untrue in the past, so until the port is officially announced, it remains a rumor at best.
There is a French wholesaler that currently has a listing of The Witcher 3 for the Nintendo Switch. The site seems suspect, to say the least. You can entertain the information as rumor, but wouldn’t treat it as anything beyond that.

However, while a game of this caliber launching on the Switch would be a huge deal, gamers are quick to point out that the requirements for The Witcher 3 to run smoothly on the PC are already stringently high, so it’s unclear what kind of compromises to the core experience the game would have to undergo to be playable on the Switch.
The Witcher 3 is considered to be one of the best games to have been released in the last couple of years, so its triumphant return as a portable experience would no doubt be highly appealing to gamers, especially those that have only had Nintendo consoles. Though once again, it must be reiterated that these types of leaks are a far cry from actual confirmation, so it’s entirely possible this is nothing more than optimistic marketing on the part of WTT.
