The Wild Wild Pixel Now on Kickstarter

Indie developer Fabraz has launched a Kickstarter for its latest project, The Wild Wild Pixel. An old school point and click adventure game with 2D hand drawn visuals, the game promises to be a vibrant, story-driven experience that updates the traditional point and click adventure genre with modern improvements.

The Wild Wild Pixel is set in a sort of anime-inspired Steampunk world. The player character, Jacques, resides in a dull desert town called The Valley, and seeks to escape his banal existence by traveling past The Valley’s imposing cliff walls to see what lies beyond.

Despite its simple gameplay mechanics, the game will provide plenty for players to see and do. Just about anything can be interacted with, and the game world will contain companion characters, side quests and mini-games. The entire game will consist of four to five chapters, totaling 20 to 25 hours of gameplay. Additionally, all of the game’s dialogue will be fully voiced.

An Early Alpha demo of the first chapter is available for download. From the looks of it, there’s loads of dialogue and characterization, as well as points where the player can select from dialogue options to steer conversations. Although still an early prototype, it’s evident that Fabraz is putting a lot of effort into making every single character of TWWP brim with life.

With 27 days to go, the game’s Kickstarter has accumulated $1983 of its $45,000 goal. Should the game exceed this crowdfunding goals, Fabraz has a number of stretch goals lined up, such as more voice actors, puzzles, sidequests, and porting of the game to iOs, Android, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Backers of the game will gain access to a grocery list of rewards, ranging from early access Betas to the game soundtrack, and poster, to a Google Hangout and dinner with the developers.

Fabraz consists of collaborators based in New York, Boston, Berlin, Zurich and Bangkok, and is the team behind Cannon Crasha, an iOS and Android game, as well as non-gaming releases such as The Tale of Aeria, an ongoing webcomic that has been around for five years.
