The Walking Dead: Our World Announced as Next Games’ Newest AR Based Title

Next Games’ newest augmented reality mobile title The Walking Dead: Our World, gives The Walking Dead fans a chance to fight alongside their friends and favorite zombie-slaying characters.

Next Games released a trailer on Tuesday, August 29th, showcasing a dramatized version of the game and its features; players wielded various types of weapons while fighting zombies in real-world locations like parks, hospitals, and grocery stores.  At first glance, the game mechanics have been compared to that of popular augmented reality title Pokémon Go, but actual gameplay footage has not been released.

In a brief statement, Next Games says you will be able to “fight walkers on the streets, in the park, on your sofa, wherever and whenever you feel like it. You don’t need to face the apocalypse alone; Rick, Daryl, Michonne and all your favorite characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead will fight by your side.” Fans of The Walking Dead series will recognize main characters Michonne and Rick fighting alongside the players in the trailer, but so far there is no information as to how characters from the show will assist the players or how Next Games will introduce the characters during the initial launch.

Season 8 of AMC’s The Walking Dead will be available to view this fall, and The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land is available to play in the app store, just in case fans want to catch up on both their gaming and their viewing time.

A release date has not been announced for The Walking Dead: Our World, but it will be accessible for both iOS and Android users on the Apple Store and Google Play.
