The Walking Dead First-Person Shooter to Be Published by 505 Games

Last summer, PayDay 2 developer Overkill announced plans for the development of a co-op first-person shooter based on Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead series. Starbreeze Studios, the parent company of Overkill, recently announced the game will be published by 505 Games and confirmed a 2016 release for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

I have played and thoroughly enjoyed Telltale Games’ episodic version of The Walking Dead but haven’t tried Activision’s highly-criticized attempt at an FPS version. Starbreeze insists that Overkill’s The Walking Dead will deliver a different experience of The Walking Dead universe with co-op, new characters, and new storylines that are set to take place in Washington of the comic’s canon.

Starbreeze hopes that partnering with 505 Games for the console publishing will streamline the distribution and marketing of the title in the traditional space and on the digital console marketplace. Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint spoke of the partnership:

Having worked together before on the successful Payday franchise, we are certain this will be a fruitful collaboration (via Eurogamer).

She's pretty terrible at racing, sports, and versus fighting games, but she holds her own in first person shooters, RPGs, and puzzle games. When she's not clocking the usual nine-to-five, she's playing League of Legends and has dreams of working at Riot or perhaps finding a niche as a streamer on Twitch.
