Just because it’s past Halloween doesn’t mean the horror stops. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre announced a new map, new characters, and some bug fixes in their upcoming update for next week.
Based off of the film franchise of the same name, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre released in August 2023. The asymmetrical multiplayer game has three players in control of the “Slaughter Family” members, whose goal is to kill the other four players who are the “Victims.” Already featuring the iconic characters of Grandpa, The Hitchhiker and, of course, Leatherface, this update will be adding two more into an already impressive cast.
Fans of Victim gameplay are treated to the inclusion of Danny Gaines, a young man who struggled in his youth, bouncing between many foster homes. Danny is the boyfriend of Maria Flores, who disappeared while studying wildflowers near Newt, Texas. Danny, along with other eventual Victims, form a search party to try to find Maria. Unfortunately, the Family already got to her, and it’s likely Danny and the others will be next…
Danny’s ability “Study and Tamper” lets him identify key objects, improving his and his group’s chances of survival. Some additional fun facts from the official website state that Danny is a Gemini from Fort Worth, Texas. He’s 21-years-old and stands at 6’1. His voice actor is Michael Johnston from Teen Wolf.
Nancy is a new member to the Slaughter Family. Her past is unknown, besides that all three of her former husbands died or vanished mysteriously earning her the nickname “Black Nancy”. Her charming nature is perfect for luring in unsuspecting visitors to their doom, such as Johnny’s mother. With his mother now dead, Nancy takes it upon herself to raise Johnny into the ideal killing machine.
Nancy can create barbed wire traps to injure and hinder Victims, and brings her house to the game as the new map. Fitting to her peculiar backstory, Nancy’s hometown is unknown, but she stands at 5 ‘9 and is a Sagittarius. Her voice actress is BAFTA winner Cissy Jones.
Since its release, most of the patches for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre had been small things, such as bug fixes. Fans grew concerned that the game would fall to the same no-more-updates fate that fellow asymmetrical horror game Evil Dead: The Game suffered in September. Luckily, it seems that the team is still committed to growing both the Family tree and the Victim list.
The patch in all its glory will go live on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
