The Surge 2 is Out Now Providing Hack-n-Slash Fun for Sci-Fi Fans

If you have been craving for a new game that provides a challenge along with a sci-fi universe and plenty of bloody dismemberment action, the newest sequel to The Surge was just released today and may provide all of those needs. The Surge 2 is yet another Soulslike game that provides success accompanied by repeated failure as it provides a challenge along with ability to customize your character as you see fit to better take on your foes.

For those not familiar with the original, The Surge takes you to an unforgivable dystopian world in the future where survival is key as the world enters an age of extinction. In The Surge 2, much of the overall plot is the same but it also carries a more filled in plotline. In this game “A mysterious storm causes your plane to crash in the outskirts of Jericho City. Weeks later, you awaken in a crumbling metropolis overrun by a deadly nanite-based disease. Rampant machines roam the rubble, military forces carry out mysterious plans, and survivors are left to fend for themselves. Above the city, an ominous, expanding nanostorm darkens the sky”. It is up to the player to find out what is happening to Jericho City and do what you can to save it.

The Surge 2 provides a familiar Soulslike gameplay element. You will go from checkpoint to checkpoint in an area, creating shortcuts to give you easier access to past locations. Along the way, you will face foes that can decimate you as easy as you can to them. For that reason, death will happen, and when you die your currency will be dropped and if you don’t make it back in time or before dying again you will lose it all. Sounds very souls like I’m sure but The Surge 2 provides its own flare.

In order to upgrade your gear, you won’t just be finding it on the ground. You will have to engage enemies for it. Any enemy you come across will be equipped with armor and a weapon. All of this can be harvested if you dismember the enemy’s body parts but this is harder than killing them outright. This will provide an extra challenge for players but also an addicting addition for those who like collecting things.

The Surge 2 was just released today and if you missed out on the first game, now is your chance to check out the newest rendition. The Surge 2 can be played on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Nathan Arquiette: Mom and Dad would never buy me a gaming console growing up, so I bought my own Dreamcast when I was 10 years old. Ever since then my passion for gaming went wild. Why watch a movie or read a book when you can take part in the plot playing a game was my philosophy. "Video games rot your brain" but I had a 10th grade reading level in the 6th grade all thanks to RPG's. Talking and writing about games is something I will never get tired of.
