The Steam Summer Sale is Now Live, Lasts From June 21-July 5

It’s that time of the year where we plunge headfirst into the world of discounted PC games and spend a little amount (or a lot) of money on Valve’s distribution platform, Steam.  That’s right boys and girls; it’s time for the Steam Summer Sale to commence, as it went live at approximately 10:00 am PST.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the Steam Summer Sale is regarded as one of the biggest discounted video game sales events of the year.  Steam usually has daily and weekly discounts for certain games and game franchises, however, the holiday themed events offer a much larger selection of games that can go as low as 90% off their retail value, but for the most part, the discounts go for approximately 30%-50% off the normal price.

Some of the highlights include PlayerUnknown’s Battleground’s ,which is 33% off, the Fallout Franchise is 30%-75% off, and Ni No Kuni IIwhich just came out earlier this year, is 40% off.  There’s also a special pricing section, such as the $10 and under, and the $5 and under games list.

As with every Steam Sale, the website is experiencing some server issues due to a massive influx of people attempting to buy games, and at this point, it’s a tradition that we all partake in.  If you try to go onto the website, or access the Steam App on your computer, chances are that it won’t start up at all, or the wait in between pages will seem like an eternity.  If you do have an interest in some of the games that are on sale, then try to have some patience, as the traffic on the site usually dwindles down after the first day.  The last thing you want is to try to make a purchase while the site is crashing.

The Steam Summer Sale lasts from June 21-July 5, that’s roughly two weeks to make some decisions on which games you want to purchase.  You can check out the Steam Store here for all of the deals currently going on.
