What happens when you take developers from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Bioshock Infinite, and League of Legends? You get the indie game The Station of course, and the futuristic sci-fi puzzle-solver is now available for purchase on the digital market.
The development team of The Station was lead by Dave Fracchia, who is the former Studio Head of Activision’s subsidiary studio, Radical Entertainment. With Fracchia also came Les Nelkin, the lead designer of Kingdoms of Amalur, and Duncan Watt, the masterful composer of Bioshock Infinite and League of Legends. Under publisher and development studio of the same name as the title, these three developers put together a game that focuses on the futuristic ship, the Espial, and its mysterious fate of the crew on board the vessel. While the ship’s inhabitants were investigating the discovery of an alien race, they find out that these aliens are intelligent and are capable of communication. However, it turns out that these aliens are also violent as they are smart. When the crew aboard the ship relays this information home, their ship’s stealth and communication technologies suddenly fail.
The Station has players assume the role of a recon specialist tasked with traversing the barren Espial in search of clues as to what happened to the ship, its inhabitants, and the nature of the hostile alien civilization. While exploring the ship, players will be treated to a distinct and visually impressive augmented reality interface that will empower a player’s observational skills. This is further enhanced when the player’s puzzle-solving proficiency is tested. As players uncover the truth behind the Espial, they will uncover a truth that will forever change the two civilizations.
The Station is available now for $14.99 on the PlayStation Store, the Xbox One Store, and Steam for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
