10 Years Later Burnout Paradise Gets Remastered

In January of 2008, Criterion Software released the fifth game of their ultra-popular Burnout franchise. Burnout Paradise proved to be a welcome departure from the previous formula. The open world design and fantastically fun to explore Paradise City is popular with fans to this day.

Unfortunately, despite the critical acclaim that Burnout received, publisher EA shifted their focus to Need For Speed. Burnout Paradise would prove to be the last main title entry into the franchise, with only one mobile title released afterwards.

Rumors have been circulating since early this year that EA might have their eyes on Burnout Paradise for remastered edition. Now, ten years later, it is official. EA announced that Burnout Paradise is getting remastered for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Developer Criterion Software is back on board, along with fellow UK studio Stellar Entertainment Software, to make it happen.

The new version will contain not only the full base game but also nearly all previously released DLC, with only one exclusion: the Time Savers Pack, which unlocked every vehicle in the game. It will also support 4K resolution at 60fps on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

Burnout Paradise Remastered will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 16. EA Access subscribers can play up to ten hours of the game a week early, starting on March 9. Continuing the push for their own platform, EA also revealed that a PC version will be launched at a later date, and that it will only be available through Origin.

So brush up on your driving skills, crank up the radio, and get ready to relive Burnout Paradise. Until then, check out the official release trailer that EA released earlier today.
