Remothered: Tormented Fathers was a critically acclaimed horror game that was released back in 2018. It followed a woman who was investigating the disappearance of a young girl, and upon arriving to a doctor’s mansion, things begin to go wrong. It was, at its core, purely a survival horror. And it delivered a lot of unique psychological storytelling and a lot of terrifying images that still haven’t left my dreams. It was also the first of a trilogy, developers Stormind Games had plans with the Remothered title. And after the success of the first one, the second one wasn’t too far off. And Stormind Games brought to the table Remothered: Broken Porcelain:
Remothered: Broken Porcelain was first announced during opening night of Gamescom 2019 and follows the story of the Ashlann Inn and the dark mysteries around it. There are powerful stalkers and hunters within the walls of the Inn who are attempting to hunt you down. The game will require intense stealth and quick thinking to maneuver through the halls and rooms, and to outwit your chasers. All to find the horrid truths that the Ashlann Inn hides.
As for the main character that the player controls, it’s the return of the young woman Celeste Felton (also known as Jennifer) who was a side character in the first game. Though now she’s the main playable character in the new narrative. Though it does have this in the game’s warning for the Mature Content:
The game involves a young woman escaping oppressors in confined environments. The horror elements are psychological in nature. Enemies will chase the player as they run, hide, and try to oust them with environmental resources and weapons.
Which could very well mean that the oppressors within the Ashlann Inn have a deeper history with the main character, and the overall lore of the series.
Along with Celeste, the developers describe that there are fan favourite characters returning as as well as a new colourful cast of characters. Though aside from Celeste, it doesn’t state if the returning cast is set to help you in your investigation, or to try and stop you along the way.
Remothered: Broken Porcelain is set to come out in the Summer of 2020 on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. For more information about the game, check out their Steam page.
