Capcom has revealed some new details concerning a limited time demo of the upcoming Resident Evil 2. The demo, titled “1-Shot”, will be available for only 30 minutes. After the time limit has been reached, you will no longer be able to play the demo. Capcom has provided some tips and useful ideas to get the most out of the timed demo which will be available on Friday, January 11.
The “1-Shot” demo will be similar to some of the other demos that the game has had since it was unveiled at E3 2018. Players will get to play as Leon S. Kennedy as he fights and searches a way out of the Raccoon City Police Department. While the demo is called “1-Shot”, you will have the opportunity to continue if you die or if you complete the mission objective. In order to stay alive throughout the demo, it may be smart to look around for First Aid Sprays, Green Herbs, and ammunition as you go through each room of the R.P.D. The map is a great way to see if a room has something you may need or if there was something that you may have missed. While it may be tempting to fight every zombie you encounter, remember, time is not on your side so avoiding conflict may be the best way to see the end of the demo.
Capcom also suggests that the first floor at the beginning of the demo is a great place to start. Red lights are a very important thing to look out for as they may indicate controls, important items for the many puzzles in the game, or signs to help you navigate your environment. The demo clock will pause anytime you are in a menu, so taking a little time to look at what you’ve gathered can help you down the line with when the game comes out.
A new, exclusive cinematic trailer will be available at the end of the demo showcasing everything that you can expect from the full game. There are several pre-order options that you can choose to get more from the game when Resident Evil 2 launches on January 25 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
